W.I.A. 2 July '63 Died two days later. At Gettysburg Battle

Paul Joseph Revere

Colonel Paul Joseph Revere - was mortally wounded on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, in command of the Harvard Regiment. He died on July 5, 1863 of his wounds, after having been given a brevet promotion to Brigadier General.

Trick question! There was more than one!

Colonel Paul Joseph REVERE, brevetted Brigadier-General of Volunteers for bravery and grandson of the midnight rider, was killed at the battle of Gettysburg while in command of the 20th Mass.

Edward Hutchinson Robbins Revere, his brother and a physician, was appointed assistant surgeon of the 20th Massachusetts volunteers on 14 September, 1861. He served with his regiment through the peninsular campaign and General John Pope's campaign on the Rappahannock, was present at Chantilly, and was killed at the battle of Antietam.

Edward Hutchinson Robbins:Born in Boston Massachusetts 23 July 1827 killed at the battle of Antietam 17 September 1862.
Also Paul Joseph a brother of Edward:Born 10 September 1832 died in Westminster,Maryland 4 of July 1863,He received a fatal wound in the second day's Battle at Gettysburg

I found a source that says two grandsons of Paul Revere were killed during the Civil War. One was Edward H. R. Revere, killed at Antietam, the other was Paul Joseph Revere, Jr., killed at Gettysburg.

I have to be honest, today just didn't get here fast enough for me! Whew, what a week....

Yesterday's Question: Which Civil War battle claimed the life of the grandson of Revolutionary War hero Paul Revere? Also, name this grandson. Colonel Paul Joseph Revere, Killed at Gettysburg. Also apparently: Edward Hutchinson Robbins Revere, Killed at Antietam, I was not aware of that!
