War of Rights

Is War of Rights appropriate for a 14 year old? How about an 11 year old? It looks fun and I am wondering if I am allowed to play it and so is my younger brother, but I am worried that it is only for adults or older teens.
We've tagged War of Rights "Mature" and describe the mature content like so,

"War of Rights aims to portray Civil War period fighting. This includes portraying artillery shell hit effects on corpses, head wounds, bayonet stabbing, bloody characters and large amounts of bodies on the field of battle."

As a father of two young-uns myself, I would be more concerned about your interactions with other players than the content of the game. These are 400-player servers of real people, usually adult men, who are sometimes crass, unkind, etc. My personal feeling is y'all are too young.

I'll say this much, while I know I wouldn't let my little siblings play it as is (I don't want them to be as interested in war as I), I would allow them probably around sixteen to play when theyre a bit more mature... With of course, blood and gore toggled off... Which is an option.

Once again, as mentioned above, it's really to the discretion of a parent or guardian. I know some who let their 13 year old play GTA (not exactly my cup of tea... Or anybody who's that age's), and some who strictly believe violent games should only be played when you can drive yourself to buy the game (exaggerated a bit but you should understand).

I've never played the game myself, but I have seen it played. I wouldn't have somebody that age play it as of now. Even if it is historical, I'd say wait until one is a bit more mature. Even then, violence shouldn't be the kind of game anybody enjoys.

Any ways, my two cents.

I have known an adult male who played online games such as Call of Duty and his experience was that the player he met with the most obscene vocabulary was about 13 years old.

Speaking of age restrictions, are there any on CivilWarTalk? I have seen some heated exchanges, mature topics and stomach churning descriptions in posts that I would feel uncomfortable exposing younger folks to. (younger folks being subjective) I know that computers at my work will not allow you to access CWT.

I have played the game a lot. While I would recommend it gameplay wise, the language of the players isn't exactly appropriate for an 11 year old. I would check with your parents.

I don't know if they have age restrictions. I was allowed to make an account and I put in my real birthday, so I guess that means a 14 year old can sign up. I find it interesting that CWT is blocked on your work's computers because it's allowed on my school's computers🤷‍♀️.

I don't think many schools knows of CivilWarTalk (I accessed it myself during class, plus the Library of Congress) but I'm not sure how their company managed to find out about it

I work at a state government department. I don't know if it was blocked due to topic or due to message boards, etc. There is a very real danger due to hackers so maybe it's due to caution.

I just saw an ad for this game (probably because I read so much Civil War history online....I might have a problem lol) and I searched here to see that someone is talking about it. My sons play "Call of Duty" and other similar war games and I shared "War of Rights" with them since them and so many of their friends are into Civil War history, especially confederate history. I have certainly noticed a rebirth of interest in the War Between the States for sure.

Pardon my ignorance- is it possible to disable the interplay dialog function on this game?

Or is it a necessary component to play?

I might like to try- but would rather avoid all the background buzz.

I play War of Rights regularly as a member of the 10th United States Regulars. It's great fun!

Is it like Call of Duty where you can get online and play against or with others from around the world?
Yes, in fact in my regiment we have a number of European members. The big difference over games like Call of Duty is that War of Rights really requires discipline and teamwork to be any good. You have to fight as a regiment and coordinate with the other regiments on your side to be successful. If you run off on your own and get killed, it costs your team heavily in respawn tickets which can lose the game for your side. If you die in formation with your regiment, the loss of tickets is much less.
