Can anyone please help with the above step? Do I literally cut off the back seam allowance and then double over the remaining material to the front? Thanks!

I'm no sewing expert so I can't really help there but have you tried sending Dan at W&W an email to ask? Might as well try going right to the source. From personal experience with them he's usually very good at customer service and answering emails fairly quickly unless they are really swamped.

Pretty much. It is called "felling." I am guessing there is 1/2-inch seam allowances on both sides of the seam, and what he suggests is to sew the main seam, and then trim off 1/4-inch of the seam allowance on the back side. Then turn and fell down the seam allowance of the untrimmed side over the seam.

Thanks, I did call. Still confused in how there is an exposed stitch on the outside. They have great customer service I just hate to bother them with every small question.

I'm sure they don't mind. I get the idea they rather answer sewing questions than the "where is my order" questions.
