Maryland...'bout 55 miles south of Gettysburg.
There was an old house on the corner that was the Pender house at one point so long ago. If after his wound at Gettysburg, he had been ordered to stay and rest instead of being moved in that old fashioned wagon then I feel that he would have lived at least through that Summer! He and his men were very hard fighters and General Lee had a real
appreciation of them, I have read.
