Here is a Civil War era knife that I own. I really enjoyed the book as well. W.C. Corsan & Company became insolvent in 1868. I thought I would post in case it is helpful to anyone.

Wow, tweezers and a toothpick way back then! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes! Thanks for posting this just for the tweezers and toothpick. I pay attention to swords and some attention to Bowie knives, but I know nothing about pocket knives of the period and they were probably used the most.

That is a nice knife! I guess you would call that the Swiss Army knife of its time. I always carry a Swiss Army knife in my pocket everywhere I go and it is still useful even in todays world.

Yes, very useful and reminded me of a Swiss Army Knife as well. It's a Coachman's knife. The curved tool is a hoof pick.
