Just finished reading Donald Miller's new book "Vicksburg; Grant's Campaign That Broke the Confederacy." What I found unique about this history was that the author goes into great detail on the riverine campaign by Farragut/Porter during 1862 and doesn't simply concentrate on the more well known story of Grant's 1863 attempts to take Vicksburg. Lots of detail, very interesting narrative.
 
Not knowing how much general knowledge about the entire war you have, but I've been recommending a book called Receding Tide by Ed Bearss and J. Parker Hills that covers the first seven months of 1863 and includes the entire Vicksburg and Gettysburg campaigns and battles as well as Chancellorsville:
