Anybody else go to the Visitors Center today? Free admission for Vets and Adams County citizens. Also had an exhibit in the lobby, pieces from an AWESOME weapons collection out in the open, you could handle different edged weapons, artillery projectiles and several varieties of muskets and carbines.

I got to hold a 3 band Tower marked Enfield, an 1841 Mississippi rifle, an 1861 and 1863 Springfields and had an in depth explanation of the Maynard system as well as a good look at a pinfire revolver such as carried by Jackson. Been reading about these weapons for awhile and seen them behind glass, but to actually get up close and handle these pieces of history was a great experience.

Just to make the day complete, spent several hours out and about exploring the monuments and terrain of Day 1. Spent a lot of time on the South end but want to experience the whole battle. All in all a terrific day.
