I followed the link and I can see why you must feel frustrated. It is hard for members to get into a research thread that has been added to another thread - we simply don't see when it pops up in the list of recent posts that it's something we might want to look at/help with.

While I hate to make you redo all your efforts, I do think you will get a better response with a new thread (sorry!) that has a title like "Help with research on J. Winters, 50th NY." Then start off with a list of what facts you are sure of, what you are trying to find out, and the hints you've gotten. I know that must feel like reinventing the wheel! But the information you have posted at the end of the guidon flags post is not getting the attention it deserves.
