Vandals Strike Again

Thanks, Bart. I think I see the pendulum swinging back. Kids in my generation let their kids get away with more than they did. The grandchildren got away with more than that. Now their children are starting to show signs of tightening up.

But sometimes the magic works. I have a niece; full-time mom, four kids; they are delightful to be with (and I hate kids). Furthermore, I firmly believe they've never even seen time out, much less the palm of mommy's hand. So it can be done.

Catch the creeps

I hope they catch the filthy creeps. It's not just monuments, but what they stand for. People ought to be taught to respect things, people and what life is really all about.

In every generation there are always those who do not understand the sacrifices in the past and will blindly destroy any reminders of those sacrifices. Either they are not educated, or worse, educated and do not care.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

If possible, a very stiff fine and or imprisonment should be placed upon those who carelessly and foolishly desecrate such monuments.Maybe a federal offense......Yeah!!!!

Is this thanks for trying to preserve the past for future generations? Fortunately, it's the one-percenters! I would be compelled to resign my domicile on planet earth and look for an alternative if it was the majority. What are these overgrown toddlers thinking??? Surely they are not adults or anywhere near ready to approach adulthood. And think, they can have a driver's license! Once caught, they should relinquish all rights real citizens have until they grow up. In fact, maybe adolescents should spend an enlistment in the military before becoming eligible for employment, drivers license or voting. Just my humble opinion.

There is not an artifact in the world worth having when acquired in that fashion.

Ah...but that is because we (in a general sense) have some senses of respect, responsibility and ethics/morals.

The 'grave robbing' sort have been around all too frequently for centuries and, perhaps some material for the writers of "Frankenstein," and the other creepy works of someone's writing. As long as there is money or profit to be made, it will be done and/or to do it for hate/revenge, which is more of a personal gain.

I am 'assuming' that our general area of age on this site is between 40-70 years of age. This period in my 'assumption state of mind and opinions' -- the generation which we (in a general sense) had a keen sense of behavior and appreciation of laws/boundry; respect given and received, etc.; the pre-gadget era.

There has been little shame of stealing bronze and copper from grave stones, memorials and such. I suspect these attempts have been similar, if they had a 'chop shop' and melt to take to those places that buy metals.

Sad state of affairs in my opinion.
