I was surfing for Naval photos to get ideas to create models of any ships or auxiliary vessel's used during the Civil War. I have scratch built around 35 vessels so far. Came across this one, never have seen it. Anyone know any information about the scene? Going to attempt to recreate it.

Hi @usnhm1625 I believe what you have there are two flat boats planked together. I have read official reports on how this was done but can't remember the source. It appears to be up near Alexandria Va., and possibly the time around the beginning of the Peninsula campaign in 1862. If I do locate it I will let you know. Thanks, I really like that picture. It looks like the left side is another barge being built and not the wharf. Ready for planking.
Lubliner.

The railcars look brand new, so I am guessing the photo was taken at the manufacturing plant. It makes perfect sense that such a plant would be located on a waterfront suitable for barge shipments. Do we know which railcar manufacturers had contracts with the USMRR? Any date on the photo would probably be helpful.
