US Grant as President

I wonder if anyone here feels that history has badly treated Grant the President ?? Although above corruption himself, the administration was badly affected by it. He was a two term President and an important reason the USA became the leading military and industrial power in the world. I am interested in other people's opinion which is probably far better informed than my own .
