US Brig. Gen. Ambrose Everett Burnside

scone

2nd Lieutenant
Honored Fallen Comrade
Hello all,

I meet a interesting person today at Work.. The fourth great grand daughter of Brig. Gen. Ambrose Burnside. She works for Cracker Barrel at the Home Office in Lebanon, right down the road from me.

She is very history minded young lady we had a grand ole time discusiing her 4th great grand paw & the Civil war in general...

Her uncle is a Civil War relic collector who lives just south of nashville and Peach orchard Hill were a portion of the Battle of Nashville was fought.

Needless to say it was one of most interesting and fun days at work.

I just had to share it with yall ..

In my twenty eight years in Tennessee, I've seen some strange things. It wouldn't surprise me.

Many Tennesseeans, especially those in the East, were for the Union. If you see her again, ask her to read Henry Heth's memoirs. He attended West Point with Burnsides and gives plenty of interesting anecdotes about him (the human side to Ambrose).
