This is a set by DES that was obviously based on Troiani's "Retreat by Recoil". The issue with this set was that the figures scaled out to 1/30 while the napoleon was 1/35th.I replaced the napoleon with one from Imrie/Risely . The figures are resin and painted in acrylics.

But...but ...it was the first shot. Seriously though I appreciate the input and will put some pigments on the muzzle.

It could well be the first shot. The grass hasn't been depressed by the recoil of the cannon rolling backward.

Yes static grass. My first attempt at using one of those battery operated applicators. I pushed it down to give it a trampled effect.

I would say first shot as well. Nothing says "My God, this thing is loud! …" like a surprised, crouching new recruit!

The side view appeared to show the soldier ramming the load while one held his thumb over the bent.
But he isnt ramming a load. Im not sure what he is doing. Need a closer view.

Some sharpshooter saw them setting up and shot at them. He was the one he hit!
