I found out by accident today that males were average 5'-7" @ 145 pounds during the civil war era.
I'm only 5'4" tall and 145 pounds. 38" chest, 32" waist.
Of course I stuck out like a sore thumb at reenactments because of my small stature compared to contemporary men.
But if I beamed back to 1860, I'd be a size 1 trouser and size 2 jacket and fit right in.
(Except for the beaming in part of course LOL.)
