I just got back from a visit there. The Cairo is actually positioned under a massive tent structure. There is an adjacent indoor museum.

Thanks for the great photos and the thread @Gettmore. I think the Cairo should be in an enclosed environment, where it will not deteriorate further. Climate controlled, protected from all of the elements.

Good thought, probably easier and safer than trying to move something that must be pretty fragile.

I didn't hear about any plans to build an enclosure around the vessel. The tent structure looks pretty permanent.
