I have the U.S. pension records for my ggrandfathers from the Nat'l Archives. They contain several types of applications: widow, orphans, disability and old age. The documents I received are the applications and follow up proofs such as affidavits. There are no documents which state that the pension was or was not granted and if granted in what amount. Why is this? Where can I find this info?

That information was in in my g grandfather's file at the national Archives. In 1896 he got $10 a month, raised to $13. I suspect the 'expert researcher' did not do a thorough job. He also got annual medical exams to continue his pension.
