I read some articles this morning dealing with the cousin of Bill. She heard about his death, lived nearby. She wanted to clean the blood from his face and comb his hair. She said Cox wouldn't let her clean him up, but Cox said he had a bullet hole in his forehead. I found this account somewhere online. I lost it. I will keep looking for it again.
This is from Genealogy.com site. Under U.S. Outlaws. James S. Hackley remembered seeing Anderson's body after he was killed. His mother was a cousin of Anderson. "We drove to Richmond. My mother's brother Tom Bayless kept a hardware store there. Mr. Bayless came out to greet my mother when a boy came running up and said Bill Anderson had been killed and his body was at Kice's gallery. My mother saw blood on his face his face and clotted hair. She pleaded that the picture not be taken until she had washed his face and cleaned his hair." This is taken from Hale's book They Called Him Bloody Bill. I no longer have this book.
