Relief outside the Corinth VC. I believe the last guy in line is Stacey Allen.

I don't really have an intelligent comment to make. All I wanted to say is that the first photo especially is absolutely amazing. I love the angles, and the lighting! It just looks like the kind of place that may be a little dusty now but holds a lot of history.

I was there this summer and got to see trains pass on both the old M&O and the old M&C. Most of the north-south traffic appears to be routed through a diamond a mile or two east of this diamond but both lines are still active.

The line going from lower left to upper right is the old Mobile and Ohio and is currently run by the KC Southern.

The line going from lower right to upper left is the old Memphis and Charleston and is currently run by Norfolk Southern.

If you look closely, you can see the high/low cross over (per my father it is called a "rabbit").

Sorry all...not only do I love history, I am a third generation rail fan (raising a forth generation rail fan).

Definitely nice pictures, was there about 2 months later in June of 2009. I am glad I made Corinth as part of Shiloh trip. I didn't see as much because only went to the visitor's center. Wish I would of looked around a little more.

I must say that your first picture sums up in one, neat little snap-shot why Corinth was a strategical strong point in that war, and why a bunch of men, North and South, suffered and died because of that rail intersection in the middle of nowhere. Well done!!!!!

By the way, that's the sort of art that should be submitted to places like Oxford American. No joke!! You could get paid! I just hate it might end up on Google . . .
