NF Twilight Zone best Civil War Episode?

Just watched the Twilight Zone Season 3, Episode 11 "Still Valley" I have to compare it with "The Passerby" Season 3, Episode 4. While both are interesting, neither is all that historical accurate as far as uniforms and weapons go. As far as I know, these are the only Twilight Zone episodes that cover the Civil War. "The Passerby" is very moving, while the "Still Valley" is a bit corny. Both are worth watching to see what the view of the Civil War was during that period.

Both are good but you're missing one, "Back There". It's season 2, episode 13. It's a top 3 favorite episode. It deals with time travel and the Lincoln assassination

While all might be a bit on the silly side, all touch on the current view of the Civil War, and the world in general, when they were made. I have always believed that movies and TV shows, show the public view of the Civil War that was current when they were made. TV and movies reinforce the current view of the Civil War. and other events.

Perhaps may favorite ever "The Passer(s)by" ("Road to Death" here), I also like the one about the LBH, and also them Kanamits that kept my traumatized for a while.

I liked all three mentioned here. For that matter I cant think of an episode I didnt like. But " Back There" was my favorite of the three. Starring The Professor, Russell Johnson.

Don't forget "Incident at Owl Creek." I still flinch involuntarily at the ending.

The Twilight Zone version is the French short film edited to fit the time slot. The French short film won the Cannes Film Festival best short film in 1963 an won an Academy Award in 1964. It is considered a classic short film.

There was one made by a foreign person. The was a soldier about to be hung on a bridge. Was that one you have seen. That was a very good one.

No. I watched "Stii Valley" I think "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge " was the best of the three, or were there four? "Passersby" was also a great episode.

There was also another episode of the TZ that dealt indirectly with the Civil War. I don't know the name of the episode but it concerns a college professor who has an old Civil War diary. He also impresses people with his detailed knowledge of the war. One of his associates finds an old Civil War photo and recognizes the professor as one of the soldiers in the photo. It turns out the Professor is an immortal who served as an officer in the war.

There also an episode where the main character went back in time to change tragedies in history. One was to the day Lincoln was assasinated. He attempted to stop booth.

Rod Serling served in the Philippines during WW2 and had a tough time dealing with the civilian and military deaths he experienced. He was wounded a few times and saw a friend decapitated. It is no wonder he had an anti-war slant.

It depends on your definition of worse. If it's blatant propaganda I agree. I had 4 relatives who were combat vets in WW2. Three served in the Pacific. One had his ship attacked by kamikazes , one was nearly killed by a Japanese infiltrator and another experienced something that I will not discuss. All of these men were extremely patriotic but were also against getting into unnecessary wars.
