Twilight at Little Round Top

End of a rainy day in August, 2014, on Little Round Top with Maj. Gen. Gouverneur Kemble Warren as a willing model; here are several photos of the same subject for your consideration. My friend Mike wanted to come here at this time of day in search of the ever-elusive orbs reputedly to be seen in what he called the triangular field near Devils' Den. He decided that particular feature, noteworthy to investigators of the paranormal at Gettysburg, has disappeared in the NPS' ongoing deforestation program; at any rate, no orbs were to be seen!

This seems to be the same elevation as used on the cover of the 1960 American Heritage Picture History of the Civil War by Bruce Catton.

Great photos! Major General Warren is always such a great model to work with. =) I wonder what his thoughts would be if he knew how often he was photographed and how great the picture always turned out!?

Great photos, James! I can sit at LRT for hours just taking in the scenery, it never gets old. I particularly like the grassy area near the 155th memorial. Better than watching TV. There's something magnetic about the battlefield that's difficult to relate in words.
