I watched an excellent PBS documentary recently called Death & the Civil War & I have watched the famous Ken Burns series several times. Is there any others that come recommended.
I'm glad you started this thread. I'd be interested to know if there are any I haven't seen and what's worth watching.

After I watched Ken Burns series, which I loved, I really enjoyed watching this one:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5261756/

Each episode followed an individual soldier's story, one from each side of the CW, as they went through a particular battle. So different soldiers and different battles for each episode. The focus wasn't entirely on the individual soldier, it was telling the story of the CW, while also including these men's stories. It was a different take on anything I had seen before. So, I really enjoyed it.

Liking the new avatar, btw @KianGaf :)

There is a good series on YouTube called Civil War Journal its not exactly in HD but it has some great historians on it and gives good details.

An excellent series   which I watched consistently--and showing my age, taped on VHS  when I knew I would not be able to watch it in real time.

Of course, that was when The History Channel was actually about...

How much time do you have? \
There are literally hundreds of documentaries on battles and various facets of the conflict. I personally prefer the presentations and lectures to documentaries made using actors or reenactors. But then I get 'turned off' by the overly neat battlefields, soldiers in clean uniforms and lack of destruction.
The presentations, often with photos and maps, are line 'picking the brains' of an 'expert'.
In addition, all of David Blight's lectures for the Yale University class, The Civil War and Reconstruction (HIST 119), Eric Foner's lectures for his Columbia University class, The Civil War and Reconstruction, and many lectures by Gary Gallagher are available on YouTube.
Right now I have tabs open for two of the many C-Span interviews and lectures. Beyond this, there are literally hundreds of documentaries on battles and various facets of the conflict.
Just search Civil War at YouTube or C-Span and you'll 'fill your dance card' very quickly.
Enjoy!

I actually have a lecture series by The Teaching Company presented by Gary Gallagher. I keep meaning to get to it but it looks a very in-depth university grade course.
