I was thinking about the picture I posted yesterday and I remembered a story I was told while our unit was reenacting there.
Back in the late 1800's/early 1900's there was a circus train heading South, likely on its way to Atlanta. Now, inside of the train, it was very hot since there was no A/C, a lot of people, and little ventilation. So this clown inside of the train does what any rational person would do: He sits atop the train so he can get some fresh air. No sooner does he sit atop the train when suddenly, he hears the sound of the train change. He turns around only to find that the train has gone through the tunnel. Before he can get down, the train car he is sitting on goes through the tunnel, and the poor clown is scalped by the force of his head hitting the entrance of the tunnel.
Legend has it within the community that he was beheaded, and I believe there is an old gag that a ghost with no head roams the tunnel.
