Trivia Game # 57 - Week 2

As I should have mentioned last week, we are now doing a 4-week game (we'll see how it goes).

Here are the questions for Week 2 of Game # 57

1. These two generals had been roommates at West Point. The first syllable of the surname of one was the same as the first syllable of the nickname of the other (not his nickname as a cadet). Name the two generals.

2. Pre-war he wrote a textbook on college algebra and two religious studies. Post-war he edited a monthly magazine and a weekly newspaper. Name the general.

3. In early 1863, nearly 100 miles north of Vicksburg, this Confederate ship was unceremoniously sunk to serve as an impediment to threatening Union forces. The ship had become famous for its involvement in an incident two years earlier. What were the three different names given this ship?

4. Of the several persons who accompanied President-elect Lincoln on is rail journey to Washington D.C. in February, 1861, five of them (not including family members) escorted the assassinated Lincoln's body from Washington back to Springfield Illinois. Name those five persons.

5. (Excluding bond certificates, etc. and notes issued by individual states or other entities), name every Confederate general whose portrait is depicted on a Confederate government currency note, and the denomination of the note on which the general is depicted.

Answers are due by 6pm (eastern) on Saturday, January 17. Good Luck!

Well, I had started out with a question about Jackson, I hadn't thought of Randolph as general. So I thought it might fool many, if not all of you, so congratulations to hurryuphill. I wonder if you knew he was a general, or if you found that out through research?

Here are the scores after week 2:

FIRST DIVISION

Sarladaise - 9
natek1029 - 4
Susan Sweet - 0
Rad2duhbone53 - 0

SECOND DIVISION
