Triple Armed Solider Tintype

I picked this one up a few months back here in West Tennessee at a local estate sale. He has a musket, knife and also a pistol. I thought he could be a southerner but it's always been hard for me to tell. Either way it is one of my favorite in my small collection. I want to see what the experts here think about it. That tintype has had a hard life! Hard for me to tell from those pics. Good possibility he's Confederate. Gray doesn't always mean Reb though. Looks like a Colt Root pistol in his belt.

Your right it has had a hard life unfortunately. I found it loose and put it in the case I found else where. Thanks your response Gandycreek the observation about the colt root pistol.

I just googled colt root pistol. As I was not fimillar that's a really neat design with the side hammer
