Trip to Perryville?

I'm thinking of a trip to Perryville, Kentucky in Late August or early September.

This battle is probably my third or fourth favorite and I have done extensive research on it.

Anyone interested in a date and tour of the battlefield?

This is one of the most pristine battlefields left in the nation. It would be fun and I would be willing to give my two cents!

there is a battle reenactment scheduled for October 3rd & 4th 2015. Am told it is some wonderful ground for the event.
The 63rd Tennessee Infantry CS has it on our schedule.

Sounds great! I have always wanted to know more about that battle. Also would like to know what is there to see. Who knows, I might even be able to join you---its time for a history tour trip.

I can make a trip to the Perryville Battlefield in late August (28 - 30). This battlefield is only 130 miles away from my residence in Cincinnati.

I have nothing special planned for that time. My wife is having out-patient procedure the week before so that should not be a problem.
This will give me an excuse to make it up to Frankfort to check out their Williams Gun.

I will mark my calendar for 29/30 and check the costs and make sure it doesn't create a problem with my other trips I was working on.

You can also visit the grave site of Daniel Boone and Presley O'Bannon at the Frankfort Cemetery near the Capital Building.

What is at Perryville in terms of mounments, markers, or small museums?
They have a GREAT little museum / gift shop. They run a short video of the battle for a warm-up. Nice, informative displays in the museum. The battlefield is nearly pristine. Only ONE Confederate monument in the cemetery for unknown dead, and ONE monument for Federal soldiers, but many informational markers dot the landscape.

It is more powerful than Chickamauga or Shiloh for me. The less - the better is how I see it. Your imagination can run wild there.
