I have a traveling shaving box which I'm sure has mixed time period items in it. I hope I'm posting this in the right thread. Some could be pre CW, others post. I'm unable to date the box itself. The little knob to pull out the mirror is I believe bone. There is engraved in old English the letters S.A.B in the diamond on top of the box. I believe the ink bottle and the housewife are CW period. The housewife has stitched numbers running along the inside on the red material and has 3 bone buttons inside. The tooth brush has "extra fine London" engraved on it with the tooth brush paste (powder) tin both could be CW period.
I'm strongly sure that the scissors (Henkel Fremont. O.) and the writing pen with the tips stamped "R. Esterbrook&C0., Lithographic, 64, made in U.S.A" are post. I have however no idea for the rest of the package. I have problems dating the razor (no makers mark) and it's leather sheath with the razor strap (all CW period razor straps had, as I saw instruction lables on them) mine has no indication that there ever was one on the box. The wooden handle of the razor strap is slightly differently shaped as that of the CW period and the carborundum strop, which I found nothing about despite the "Red Star" lable. I don't even know how to date the Shaving brush.
Why would a man carry a Lithographic pen and ink bottle in a shaving box. They were in there as there is ink inside of the bottom of the box and has been there for as long time. I can see the housewife though.
Could I ask for help to break this box down for me to the individual time periods of the items.
