Ingredients:

12 egg yolkss
sugar
butter
puff pastry
optional fruit preserves

Instructions:

Take the yolks of of twelve eggs; beat to a froth; add sugar to make a stiff batter; a small hit of butter; flavor with anything to suit the fancy. Have two good sized pie plates lined with pastry; pour the batter in and bake until done. Some pour preserves, (small fruit) in the pastry before the batter.

Transparent Pudding can be traced back to the frontier days where pies were often made using whatever pantry goods were on hand. Since they had no refrigeration in those days and this pudding did not have to be refrigerated, it was quite popular. Sadly, the pudding may be transparent, but the calories are not.

Do you suppose it might be jasmine tea? That's very pale, and it has a pleasant taste.

One of the flavors is usually jasmine. Here's a link to a site that sells these - so very pretty - https://teabloom.com/flowering-tea/flowering-tea-balls.html

The set I linked includes the following tea flavors - The flowering tea balls in this gift pack contain Heart Bouquet, Jasmine Lover, Golden Oasis, Floral Passion, Sunset Love, Fairy Lily, Eternal Love, Rising Spring, Shooting Star, Fireplace Bloom, Dancing Leaves, and Enchanting Beauty.

Here's another with a screenshot -

My daughter made a Japanese agar based desert last year. The first bite was good for a second and then, I don't know, but I sure didn't like the after taste of the agar which also has a texture that I think you somehow need to be brought up on. My husband, who (like me) isn't fussy, didn't like it either after the first bite or two. The agar didn't taste like Jello either. It is its own thing.

Eleanor. With recipes like this transparent pudding pie I usually like mine with an angioplasty. LOL. Just kidding of course. I'm sure it is delicious in it's own way. Eleanor, I hope it is not as cold in North Carolina as it is in Pennsylvania. If so, you better break out the brandy. :smile coffee:Warm Regards. David.

@christian soldier, it's 20F outside right now and the forecast low is 12F. Brrr! More of the same tomorrow. I've got a feeling it's a lot colder where you are my friend. Pull up the blankets and stay warm.
Eleanor Rose. This weather and of course work is causing extreme damage to my golf game. I tried to play last weekend in the wind, which I don't mind, however, the extreme temperatures, zero degrees F, were just too much for me to withstand. You know, I have to be in tip top shape for the summer league. I was hoping you would invite me down to North Carolina to play and practice at Pinehurst No. 2 but with weather like you have described I will have to pass. LOL. I have some advice for you in these extreme temperatures: Whip up some of that transparent pudding pie and you and your husband build a nice fire in the fireplace and try and keep warm and cuddle up next to him and most importantly don't forget the brandy. :smile:Cheers!!! Your friend, David.

Cuddling and brandy are on my to-do list David! You really should visit Pinehurst when the weather is warm. You would love it. Please make sure you let me know if you ever visit the area!
