Have you ever seen a floating torpedo? Known today as mines, these torpedos were used by the confederates at Fort McAllister to damage and stall the wooden Union ships in the Ogeechee River so that they became an easier target for the cannoneers at the fort. Stop by our outstanding museum to learn about these and many other types of weapons used during the Civil War. We are open 8-5 every day!
