Top Three Corp Commanders?

If you could create your own army during the Civil War using known commanders of the time who would you use? Think of it as a fantasy civil war team.

I'm thinking;
Lee as an army commander
1st corp Jackson
2nd corp Gordon
3rd corp Joe Johnston
Cavalry corp Forrest

i seriously doubt that if you could combine the two armies with the federal supply advantages, if any army could have stopped us from conquering the world

That's a great team! But, as much as I like Forrest, I think I'd put Wilder in as cavalry corp commander. (He was just about the only guy could break even with Forrest and even beat him a time or two!)

I like your choices except that I would have chosen Patrick Cleburne rather than Joseph Johnston for 3rd corps commander.

Wilder was extremely innovative and successful in his short career. Too bad that typhoid kept him from further command, and, eventually led to his early retirement.

Yes, and pneumonia took out John Buford before his time, who would have been a great commander as well!

buford was a great commander. I think he understood the role of cavalry better than just about anyone in the union army.

The reason i picked johnston was because he was amazing at defensive battles, in my opinion better than even Lee or Longstreet. He just wasnt given enough chances to really show his skills. With Gordon and Jackson as the other corp commanders who are known for there agressiveness, i figured they could use someone more cautious and defensive

Thats true, just look at how America performed during those wars... spectacularly in my opinion. If America hadnt fought in those wars Germany would be a massive empire beyond any other country.

Don't forget--we were fighting Japan at the time, and frankly, they're even scarier.
