TO Appomattox

thanks sam i wasn't aware of that, this is a huge forum so it's hard to find anything. Does anyone know when they will begin filming?

I don't take HBO but will be the first to buy it when it comes out on bluray. They don't have enough things on there I like to pay the extra money for. They have had some very good shows like Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire that I have bought on bluray. I loved Deadwood.

it'll be really hard for the producer to find enough emaciated southerners to play Lee's army during the last months of the war
Ummmmm. I will refrain from mentioning the lack of rangy young guys and the plethora of pudgy old guys.

The guys on both sides would have been from 20 to 30. But you take what you can get.

Unfortunately, you have to be about 45 to 60 to indulge in this hobby, unless you have a really good job.

So reenactors are not generally under 30 and scrawny.

Emaciated is not required. Pudgy old guys can be avoided. That leaves the field of extras rather sparse.

Just go to any crack house. Give them 20 bucks apiece and dress them up. They will be happy and serve a purpose for probably the first and last times in their lives.

Mr. Beckman came on some time ago and asked some questions. Whether the answers were what he wanted, we really don't get to steer this kind of thing. We gave him advice and honest answers but, In the end, it has to have audience approval. A couple of hundred of us is no where close to that.

We gave him answers and advice, but he still must present something that will sell. If it don't sell, he loses. If it does sell, he wins.

You pays your money and you takes your chances.

That is the way life works.

That really sucks, Ted. He doesn't need burnouts for his series. Get real.

I see where you're coming from, but there is very little realistic in it.

Making a series requires serious actors who show up. On time and ready to recite their lines. If they screw it up, you get to can the casting director. It is a business.

Your right, but They have the look. But do not deserve the honor to represent a CW soldier of either side.

There was an exchange a few months ago on this board that indicated that the producers were at a crucial stage with getting approvals from the money guys. Did this /these meeting(s) come off? If so to what result?

The cast and experts advertised do not appear to be be more than people who have expressed an interest in being involved. Maybe a few out of work actors are more committed than others but otherwise, very little concrete things have developed prior to the announcement of proposed meetings with the money people.

Although I would welcome such a series, I would not get worked up over what has seemed to be little more than hype so far.

The casting is great, especially with some of the cast from HBO's Band of Brothers.

That's pretty much what they did for the extra troops in Glory. That worked fine.

Deadwood was great I miss that one but apparently the scriptwriters basically ran out of ideas............
