Nice photos! I wouldn't call the top picture a battle shirt, looks like plain old civilian clothing. If I were to guess this young man signed on the dotted line and went right to the town photographer to get his photo taken. It's a nice looking musket he's holding, looks brand new.

I saw that. I didn't want to get too farninto it as James Brothers have a tendency to at the least stir the pot and at the most it breaks out into a full on KGC/Confederate treasure/Jesse-didn't-shot conspiracy and frankly I can't handle that again.
It's a very advanced gun for the revolutionary war, just look at that forestock! I think it's an old Model 1816 musket. Wish they had that back then! Most of these era of 1800s-1820s model guns are converted percussion guns, always interesting to see the actual flintlocks in use in the war.
