When it came to finding curry combs, I was on a dry streak. I had not found a single one. That is, until 2017, when I found my first one (the bottom one in the picture). Then, as luck would have it, I found one in 2018 and also in 2019. Three curry combs in three years.
With so many horses in use, I'm surprised more aren't found.
These were all found in Vicksburg campaign sites.
Thanks for looking at my comb collection.
 
As they say good thing come in three's.
 
While researching through FOLD3 records---either a USC Artillery or Union Cavalry---I found an entry for a soldier being charged for loosing a curry comb. I was surprised as it could have been almost half of his pay.
 
Interesting. I had never heard of those before now.
