I looked up William Leitner in the 6th NY Inf, as the FindaGrave page stated. There was no one with that name in that unit. However, there was a man with that name in Company K of the 65th NY Infantry. He died in 1917 in Liberty Center, Ohio (which is in Henry County). Seems likely that he's a match, with the Find A Grave page missing one digit in his regiment number. I found him in the pension index, so he would have a pension and service records at the National Archives.

He filed for an invalid pension in 1870, which means he would have been claiming some sort of sickness or injury. Most of these were filed in the 1880s or 1890s or later, so the fact that he filed so soon after the war means that there is a chance that he left the war with some sort of injury. Of course, this would need to be confirmed by looking at the records themselves. This is simply an index card.

Mike, have you checked their CSRs? Find a Grave is a great resource, but it's one I always check against other records, like those pension records that Rhineheart Roots found, to confirm someone. :)
