I suppose every new generation of reenactors has one or more of these seedy and supposedly "authentic" characters - back in the 1970's it was a fellow from somewhere in the Midwest who was known by everyone as "Shotgun", seen here talking with a more regulation Rebel infantryman.

Sour Mash, you are sooooooooo right! Must be all those 'possums he has eaten, too! As an aside, I knew Shotgun....from Illinois as I recall. Seedy.....well, some might call it that but he was working on his own level of "authenticity"! Don't think he made any of the Authentic Campaigner's annual "Best Dressed" calendars, however.

Don't think this bushwackr' was outside for too long taking pot shots. His hair and skin are remarkably clean.

Maybe if he looked more unwashed and unkempt, it would add authenticity to the image.
