I went to the Mississippi monument dedication this past weekend at Shiloh. Very well done. Ret. Lt. General Harold Cross' s keynote speech was awesome, search youtube and listen. Here is a close up and a not so close up.

I don't think they're raising it, old bean. Flag bearer's bought one and the other two are rushing to seize the colors before they fall. My guess anyway

You are correct.

The 6th Mississippi lost eight color bearers and suffered a 70 percent casualty rate at Shiloh.

The flag is the Hardee flag, also known as the "moon" flag. I'll post another pic later where you can see it better.

They were using the Hardee pattern since they were in Hardee's Corps at Shiloh. I can't say for certain but the Lowry Rifles flag, being a company flag, probably wasn't flown in battle.
