We have some threads on Indians in the CW. Its a complex subject since Indians fought on both sides and a fair amount of Confederate allied Indians deserted to the Union. I have a few books such has"Civil War in the West by Alvin Canaby, The South bitterly divided" and the South divided' go into great detail about Indians in the CW. Their is anothe book that I have not read"The Prarire was on Fire" that is about Indians in the CW. Some Indians fought in whit units such has the CSA Hampton Legion from Nc and their was at least one Mn regiment that had Indian companies. Not to mention Ely Parker was a staff officer for Grant and the CSA had the only Indian general Brig. General Stan Waite. A complex subject indeed.
