Pick up this book at a friends of the Library sale. It is a subject i am not too knowledgeable on.
Looks like a quick read. Almost looks like a book for young teenagers. Not sure if I would learn a lot. I bought it because of a couple interesting illustrations in the book.
If it is aimed at young teenagers this is an interesting book. All most all authors, children, teens, and adults, have a bit of an agenda. Not every agenda is nefarious, some agendas are to push history. Still if this book is for young teens, than how are the topics covered? For example, one chapter covers secession in Texas and one chapter covers reconstruction in Texas. How are these two subjects handled? I see the author covers the KKK in Texas as well as the Freedman's Bureau. I might find some clues in the author's agenda in that chapter.
