The Letters that turned Wives into Widows

I am working on a long-term project that has as a sideline led to me to find many letters written to New York families regarding the death of their husbands and sons in the American Civil War. It is worth considering the emotional power of these letters when they were first read 150 years ago. I intend to share many more in the months ahead, but all relate to Irish immigrant families. This first batch include those I have come across relating to Irishmen in New York Cavalry and New York Heavy Artillery units. http://irishamericancivilwar.com/20...re-the-letters-that-turned-wives-into-widows/
