There are quite a few conversations about ACW cavalrymen on this site, and interesting and entertaining conversations they are. Maybe a thread about earlier horse soldiers would be fun?

Who was your pick for the most effective horse soldier of the American Revolution on either side?

"Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton...arrogant, ruthless, and by all reports (including his own) utterly charming." - Karen Hayden

I really don't know enough facts about mounted actions in the American Revolution to objectively state that Tarleton was was the best/most effective but I certainly find him the most interesting.
