Where were these pictures taken. I don't think I have ever seen this flatboat site before.

My great great grandfather William H Gaines was a flat boat worker now I know what they looked like. He did it on the Mississippi river. He lived in Hot Springs Arkansas. There was a skirmish on Gaines Landing in Kentucky. I wondered if he ever helped ferried troops across the river etc.
