Travelling from Kansas City to Memphis on our way to the Stones River 2022 muster we pulled in at the Welcome Center, Mammoth Spring State Park, AR and came across this cannon just off the parking lot.
The 4.5" rifle was also known as a siege gun or a 3" Ordnance Rifle on steroids. Because of their weight, they were only brought to the front on special occasions and usually resided in the siege train far to the rear.
Now that's one you don't see every day. To find one in Arkansas is curious, and interesting.
Its a little out of my stomping grounds when in Arkansas, but I'll have to make a mental note of it and take a look next time I'm in Northern Arkansas.

I seem to recall reading an article a couple years ago of these being in the rear during Gettysburg, and the author postulating how they could've prevented Longstreet's Assault. A theory I don't really agree with.
