I just did a day long guided bus tour of Lee's Final Campaign. I have read books about the Appomattox Campaign, but was always a bit confused about the campaign due to the many actions involved. Having did the day long bus tour I am better able to picture the campaign in my mind. Although the campaign was of vital importance to the war ending,we seem to seldom discuss the campaign.

I enjoyed the Battle of Sailor's Creek but thought the visitor center was not very busy for a Sunday. What do you think of the new building there? All in all the number of visitors at the various sites was rather slim, even Appomattox was nearly empty. Do people simply not care about the campaign or did I just go on a bad day?

I dropped by the Chancellorsville Battlefield, Spotsylvania Battlefield and the Battle of Mananas on my way to Richmond and thought they had a reasonable amount of visitors as did the Crater at Petersburg.
