If you're a newbie and expect to spent time and money on the Civil War, remember the Confederacy always loses the Civil War. Not only do they lose, not one state remains in the Confederate states.
And through history, the student of the Civil War is taken to outlandish efforts to make them believe, that because it was an American war, it was a fair war.
We seem to move through the ideas of the possible, on how the Confederacy could win the war. Win the war in 1862, 1863, 1964 and 1865. Why there seems some fairness doctrine that somehow in 2009, the Confederate states, in all fairness to them, can still win the Civil War.
For example we see statements taught to students such as, " If Little Mac wins the election, then there lies the confederate chance for victory regardless of the generals"
In reality, how much chance of becoming an independent country on the date of McClellan's inauguration, in March, 1865. By the date of taking office, the Confederate western army was destroyed at Nashville, Sherman had made his march to the sea in Georgia and was in North Carolina, and the future of the Army of Northern Virginia was slowly headed to Appomattox, only a few weeks later.
Why in American fairness, at this late date in March, 1865, when McClellan would have taken potential office, there was still chance. Why in good old American fairness, "there lies the confederate chance for victory."
The Confederacy didn't lose; the Confederacy just lost.
But be sure to buy that Civil War adventure. Why the Confederacy might yet find victory from the jaws of defeat. Why it's - an American fairness fantasy.
