I am looking for a good book that you guys feel is a great read for units that fought for Texas during the war. Calvary and Infantry or combined concise history of both.

I just bought a book edited by Richard Lowe (not read yet). "A Texas Cavalry Officer's Civil War: The Diary and Letters of William Bates" I'll let you know how it is when I get to it.
