Congrats Very Nice button. The some of the plain front buttons were marked T Miller and are RARE. The lined fields were blank BM.

Hi Richard, You doing better now after your accident? Maybe I am misunderstanding your comment on blank field. I believe this is lined, but yet covered in crud. Both in Tice & Alberts they only mention back being blank or marked. Nothing regarding as to the face not lined. Is it from another source you are finding this comment? I know it is not the later made pin type as hole is full size. Thanks

I'm doing a lot better and in fact I'm going back to work at the Chattanooga CW show this weekend but I do have help coming.

I own 2 and one is lined field and back-marked T Miller below and the other is plain field and not marked.

Good to hear your mending well. That is strange that neither Tice or Alberts mention a unlined field version, but only the back being blank or marked as the one you show above. I think I can see a partial line between the ends of the C. Once in hand with a little cleaning I'll know better.

VERY NICE Button. Thanks for post the cleaned up version.

So is this typed issued to enlisted?
I do not know that for a fact, but would guess you to be correct. The cast brass button is 22mm in size. From a google search there were numerous Confederate camps throughout Matagorda County, Texas. Numerous skirmishes and battles took place in this area. There was a large quartermaster distribution in this area for clothing and shoes.
