Besides Fort Sumter in South Carolina and Fort Pulaski in Georgia of which I have pictures below, I was at Fort Moultrie across the water from Fort Sumter.

Charleston is such a neat city. I was down there long ago visiting a friend of mine that worked for the Corps of Engineers, they took part in some of the preservation of the forts and the harbor itself along with dredging the main shipping channels. When I was there the main road along the seaside "battery row" front was cordoned off and made to look like 1860, all the roads were covered with sand/dirt. They were filming that mini series, I think it was "North and South." The one with Patrick Swayze. Thanks for the pics. Taking the boat out to Ft. Sumter is amazing. Also seeing the artillery pieces and trying to imagine what that night must have been like with all the guns going off and no one getting killed all except one during the surrender.
