Supply frequency to forts?

I am going to throw out a crazy question here. I know that some forts saw way more action than others, and went through supplies faster. But how often did forts get supplies? Was these routes based on geographical location, coastal vs inland, that was taken to get supplies there?

Also, did troops get rotated through or was they stationed there permanently?

From what I have seen troops were rotated. Most forts were around water of some sort so disease was always taking its toll on garrisons. I know the 1st Georgia Regulars occupied Fort Pulaski for a short time in 1861, then went into active service, then garrisoned the Chattahoochee Arsenal in extreme southwest Georgia for a time before returning to active service.

Ft Pulaski I have visited and just recently I visited Ft Clinch and had taken some pictures of a supply list that was there at the store house. I was amazed at the amount of supplies that was kept there. Everything from powder to salt and pepper.

I had just never really thought about the logistics of moving that much supply and how it would cripple a fort if the supply lines were interrupted.
