Supplement to the Official Records

Does anyone happen to have access to these? They were published in the mid-1990s by Broadfoot Publishing. As best as I can tell they are not online and hard to tell what exactly is included in them but it sounds as if unit histories and other correspondence are included.

I've never heard of them before. Hopefully though they are very well indexed and categorized, otherwise they sound like they would be virtually useless.

Seems to me there are a great many folks who would pay a moderately hefty price for this on CD-ROM, as with the original OR. But not many individuals can drop $5,500 or devote the shelf space to the bound volumes.

We have a set at work - is there a specific unit you are looking for in the supplement? The supplement has the "Record of Events" for each regiment, Union and Confederate. The amount of information varies quite a bit from unit to unit.

I bought the first 14 volumes. The first 12 are the valuable ones--they are the additional reports and the like. The bulk of the rest of the volumes are the itineraries mentioned by the poster above. I found them to be largely useless to my work and canceled my subscription. I use the first 12 volumes in every project. The rest, not so much.

Had this set not been so outrageously priced--better than twice the cost of my set of the OR's--I probably would have completed it. But the return on the investment does not, in my humble opinion, warrant the price.

In fairness, they are very well indexed and well organized. I have no complaints about that.

Perhaps if the index were online, I would be able to find the specific books I would benefit from and purchase them individually. I need to get the Official Reports first though.

I am. I am interested in the 22nd Ky and its information. I've seen some references of excerpts and it appears to have more info than the first OR published. I'm waying the option of putting something together for the 22nd Ky and it sounds as if this may be very helpful.

I believe they are listed in Vol. 22 but you may have to correct me if I'm wrong.

While we are at the ORs again ... I´m searching for Volume (Series 1, not supplements) 30 (XXX) parts 1, 2 and 3 in PDF-format (have part 4). I know it`s available online, but as I said, I´m looking for PDF and archives.org doesn´t have those 3. Does by any chance anybody have a link?

I have used the Supplement as a major source in my regimental history. You can search libraries that own it. In Minnesota, only one library has it, Univ. of St. Thomas.

Yes, there can be more history in the Supplement. Dyer's was 15 sentences on the regiment I am looking at. Probably over 30 pages or more in the Supplement. by company with a timeline.

I have not found an online site for them either.
