Supplement to Crute's Compendium

(First post on this forum btw)
I've been trying to make a supplemental volume to Crute's "Units of the Confederate States Army" as the original doesn't mention or makes mistakes on several units; I've amassed a large number of units that should be added, these are shown in the following documents:

Part 1 of completed histories
Part 2 of completed histories
If y'all could look over these, and if you have some ideas for new units, please share!

Your work is noted and a welcome supplement to Crute's original publication. It should be of interest to scholars who are researching or had ancestors who served in some of the more obscure units that were organized during the Civil War, especially in the Army of the Tennessee. I had a direct ancestor who served in the Third Virginia Reserves, one of the units you covered in Volume 1 of your histories. Thank you and by the way, I never knew Tennessee had a Zouave regiment.

A few, but most are either half-finished or barely started.
Here are a few of my WIPs:

• A roster, similar to that of the Official Army Register, of the US Regular Army;
• A supplement to the Official Army Register itself, adding previously-excluded units and another errata for Christian names;
• A document of the rosters of the various Consolidated units (such as McNair's brigade in the West, and the April 9 Army of Tennessee organization) that have otherwise been ignored;
• Some data on the previous military and/or wartime experience of the field officers of the USCT, many of whom were jump-promoted from captaincies (206) and lieutenancies (154).
• Several miscellaneous essay ideas, including:
  • Evolution of siege artillery;
  • Battle of Shimonoseki (1864);
  • Captain Adrian J. Vidal's company;
  • 109th and 128th Illinois Infantries;
  • Captain Thaddeus Fitzhugh and Confederate operations on the Chesapeake;
  • The transfer of dozens of units from the Army of Tennessee to the Mobile defenses; and
  • The transfer of dozens of units from the Western Theatre to the Army of Northern Virginia in time for the Overland Campaign.

Lol, I wish I could show more growth with the documents ... in actuality, I haven't made any significant progress in two years!!

Wow! That's quite a list of interesting and "non pedestrian" topics!
