Sunset on the Killing Grounds

This was photographed in the summer of 2014 at Gettysburg National Military Park. The bird in this image has frequently been confused for a hawk or eagle, but in fact it is a Turkey Vulture. Despite the loveliness of its silhouette, it's a somber reminder of what took place on this hallowed ground.
